On July 2nd 2017, the CUSJ Québec Chapter met in a bucolic setting–at the home of Uma Nigam in Canton de Hatley, the site of the UU Estrie summer picnic.

The picnic was preceded by a circle service on the lawn, led by Keith Baxter, who led us in a song of gratitude and stewardship of the Earth…

We began with a circle service

We felt the gentle breeze, listened to the rustling leaves of majestic trees, and admired Uma Nigam’s garden–Thoreau would have been right at home there, I thought!

A feast for the senses

About 35 people gathered for the ensuing potluck picnic.

Fashion is not just for city-dwellers, dah-ling!

After the picnic, the members of the new CUSJ Québec Chapter pulled up chairs to hold our meeting on the lawn… By the time our meeting ended, we had picked up three new Chapter members! We are pleased to welcome Phyllis Baxter and Rev. Carole Martignacco of UU Estrie, and Nancy Graham of Lakeshore UU. Thank you again to Uma Nigam for her hospitality!
