In the Series: “Let’s Connect UU Social Justice” our Speaker was Reverend Fulgence Ndagijimana on Nov 25 2023

A Return to the Sacred Land

Rev. Fulgence, a Unitarian Minster, was jailed in his homeland Burundi for his opinions and after being freed through petitions, he stayed eight years in exile in Canada. Rev. Fulgence Ndagijimana is now transitioning to Mwibutsawineza Ndagijimanayiburundi and in November just returned from a 7-week pilgrimage to Burundi his native land. He will share his reflections on the experience and how the land, the people and the spirituality took a renewed meaning for him. He talked about the country, its recent history, the effects of colonisation and how changing his name is part of the spiritual journey that led him back home.
