Webinar on COP26 – Oct 30, 2021

(Registration  form below this intro)

Hello Members and friends,

CUSJ are hosting a webinar and conversation on COP26 Oct 30, 2021

We invite you to join us on Saturday October 30, 2021, Time: 10am Pacific Time, 1pm Eastern Time. Length of call: 75 minutes. The Zoom link will be provided to registered participants Registration form below.

The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) is taking place in Glasgow from October 31st to November 12th and many believe this may be the last real chance to bend the curve on greenhouse gas emissions.

CUSJ are hosting this zoom call to share information, questions and ideas related to COP 26 with Ahti Tolvanen who will be attending the conference as on Observer on behalf of CUSJ.

Ahti has participated at the COP climate summits since Paris 2015 as an observer for the CUSJ. He has been working with delegations of the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office, CAN-RAC (The Canada Climate Action Network) and The Faith and Science Initiative. The latter is part of a network outside the COP process critical of the lack of sufficient measures to stop CO2 emissions from increasing. It has also pointed out the environmentally destructive impact of our obsession with economic growth.

COP 26 may be “insufficient but necessary”. This is where the script to stop the climate crisis is being written, but bad actors are interfering with the process and some governments are not fulfilling their promises. Will the deepening climate and environmental crises at last motivate the governments to get their act together?
